About the Role
The Role
As Staff Engineer – Developer Productivity, you own the path to production for a large monorepo and dozens of product teams shipping continuously to production (70+ deploys/day). You’re the person who makes builds, tests and deploys boringly fast and reliable – and you’ll be hands-on in the codebase, not just writing docs from the sidelines.
You’ll work across:
Build & CI/CD
Monorepo architecture & tooling
Test strategy & coverage visibility
Multi-cloud, multi-region deployment topology
Operational excellence (catching issues before customers do)
What You’ll Do
Own the build & deploy pipeline end-to-end: design, optimise and maintain the build/test/release system for the entire engineering org.
Make the monorepo a superpower: untangle build/test dependencies so teams don’t block each other; introduce and tune tools (e.g. build graph / incremental build systems) to speed everything up.
Level up testing: give teams clear, top-down visibility into coverage and quality; help them close gaps across an ever-growing matrix of data sources, destinations and enrichment workflows.
Support multi-region / multi-cloud: improve deployment workflows, reliability and safety checks across regions and cloud providers for a global customer base.
Drive operational excellence: build the tooling and guardrails that surface problems early and make it easy to respond quickly when something slips through.
Spend a real chunk of your time shipping features yourself to stay close to the product and developer experience – especially during onboarding.
Requirements
About You
You’re a senior/staff engineer who cares deeply about how teams ship:
You’ve materially improved developer productivity for a 40+ engineer org by changing how builds, tests and deploys work – not by sending more emails.
Strong engineering fundamentals: comfortable in a large TypeScript/JavaScript monorepo, with some Go or similar in the mix.
You can talk build systems, CI/CD, test strategy, and release engineering at depth, and you’ve shipped code that moved DORA metrics or similar in the right direction.
While you have infra chops, your centre of gravity is developer experience and framework-level improvements, not pure ops.
You like high ownership: partnering with product & infra, talking directly to internal stakeholders, and being accountable for outcomes rather than tickets.
We don’t care about exact years of experience as much as impact and trajectory, but this is a staff-level scope.
Why This Role Is Interesting
Leverage: every improvement you make compounds across 50+ engineers and thousands of production deploys.
Hard, real problems: multi-cloud, multi-region data & AI platform; big monorepo; high change-rate; demanding customers.
Autonomy: you’re the single-threaded owner for build/test/deploy – with leadership that actually wants to invest in it.
Upside: fully remote in North America, top-of-market salary plus serious equity and very employee-friendly option terms (early exercise, long exercise window).
If you’re the person who naturally becomes “the build person” or “the path-to-prod owner” wherever you go – and you want to do that at a fast, data-obsessed AI company – this is very much you
About the Company
High-growth data activation & AI platform used by modern data and marketing teams. Their product syncs customer and product data out of warehouses like Snowflake, BigQuery and Redshift into 200+ downstream tools (CRMs, ad platforms, support tools, etc.), powering real-time personalisation and growth campaigns.
They’re profitable, well-funded, and run a multi-cloud, multi-region SaaS platform serving customers globally.
This role is about making a 50+ engineer org dramatically faster and safer to ship.
